Doula Services

Jacqui Barclay

Hi I'm Jacqui and I am a Doula, was a nurse (13 years), am a mother of 5 and Owner of Warragul Wellness Centre. I am extremely passionate about educating women on their options, both medical and natural in an unbiased way. I enjoy being able to connect and support women through their journey into motherhood. I strongly believe that information is power and that everyone has the rite to choose what works for them and their family. I completed my training at the Australian Doula College and am a labour Doula as well as a post natal Doula.

So What is a Doula?

A Doula is a professional trained in childbirth who provides emotional, physical, and educational support to a mother who is expecting, is experiencing labour, or has recently given birth. The Doula’s purpose is to help women have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience.

Most Doula-client relationships begin a few months before the baby is due. During this period, they develop a relationship in which the mother feels free to ask questions, express her fears and concerns, and take an active role in creating a birth plan.

Most Doula's make themselves available to the mother by phone in order to respond to her questions or address any concerns that might arise during the course of the pregnancy. Doula's do not provide any type of medical care. However, they are knowledgeable in many medical aspects of labour and delivery.

As such, they can help their clients gain a better understanding of the procedures and possible complications in late pregnancy or delivery.

Book below for a no obligation, free consultation and find out how a Doula can help your birthing experience.

As I am also qualified as a postnatal doula, I can offer help on the other side of birth - when baby arrives, which for many of us can be a big shock.

Not only are we recovering from the birth, dealing with wild hormone fluctuations and massive exhaustion, but on top of this, we have a tiny baby to care for... that's some overwhelming stuff.

The good news is, a postnatal doula can help with all the above. My goal is to help you transition to motherhood, enjoy your baby and handle all the challenges that come your way. Ultimately, I offer support to keep you sane during a crazy, albeit amazing time in your life.

As your postnatal doula, I am not there to tell you how to parent or to judge you for your parenting decisions. I understand that parents have different beliefs and philosophies about how they want to raise their baby - and will support your position, only offering additional information if you request it.

Your wellbeing is my top priority - so physically, mentally and emotionally, I am all over you., which is kind of indulgent when you think about it because new babies tend to get all the care and attention, when it's mum that needs it most of all.

I can help with:

  • Growing your confidence whilst being supported in your home

  • Understanding your baby’s developmental leaps & cues

  • Feeding support

  • Settling support

  • Time to connect with your baby, time to rest and catch up on sleep

  • Trusting your role as a mother and tuning into your intuition

  • Light home duties, cooking and running errands, support for other siblings
