Dr. Cate Bearsley-Smith is an accredited EMDR Consultant and a Clinical Psychologist with a special love for helping people achieve their growth goals utilising EMDR Therapy.  During the past twenty years Cate has worked in the

public and private sectors of clinical psychology.

If you’re not yet familiar with it, EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.  It is an evidence-based therapy that is particularly helpful for treating psychological and physical symptoms stemming from adverse life experiences; traumas large and small.

EMDR is not just for healing from trauma.  It is also used for performance enhancement, making difficult decisions, coping with hard changes or a shock, improving self-belief, resolving internal conflicts or complicated grief or avoidance problems, and more.

People with substantial additional childhood trauma are recommended to have the additional support of a long-term therapist when engaging in an EMDR Intensive.

Dr. Bronwyn Bersy

Bronwyn is a registered psychologist whose initial training included a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Honours), and a Doctor of Psychology (Forensic). She has continued to further her education, undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Aboriginal Studies, and a Certificate IV in Grief and Bereavement in recent years. She has eight years experience working in the women's prison system providing both group and individual therapy. She has also worked for nine years as a student counsellor in the tertiary education sector. In these roles she has worked with individuals facing a range of issues including mood and anxiety disorders, grief, stress and sleep difficulties.

Bronwyn takes a multi-faceted approach to meet the needs of her clients, drawing on the resources of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) as well as Eye Movement Densitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). Drawing on these, Bronwyn’s approach to counselling is to work with her clients to empower them to overcome obstacles and develop resilience. She has a warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental approach to counselling and aims to work collaboratively with clients to develop insight and facilitate positive change.
