Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (OT) supports people to engage in their everyday activities (occupations) and roles that are meaningful to them. OT looks at the person, the environment and the occupation and how this affects performance and participation in activities. Activities can include (but not limited to) personal, domestic, community, work, leisure & caregiving. OT will help you to be able to do the things that you want and need to do. OT can assist with:

  • Functional Movement Education

  • Task Modification

  • Injury and Surgical Recovery

  • Ergonomic Home / Office Set Up

  • Pain Management Strategies

  • Energy Conservation & Pacing

  • Equipment Prescription

  • Home Modifications

During pregnancy and postpartum our ability to complete our everyday activities can become difficult for many reasons such as weakened and stretched muscles, abdominal separation, unstable joints, hormonal changes, pain and discomfort, birth intervention, caesarean or trauma. When you add in the new mothering demand of
holding and moving the weight of a baby day and night, the once simple tasks can become very hard.
OT input can assist you to be able to complete the activities that you want and need to do, whilst supporting your body as you complete the movements of mothering and enjoy this precious time with some more ease.
